Book three of the Inheritance Cycle

Also known as: The Seven Promises of Eragon Shadeslayer and Saphira Bjartskular

The story begins as Eragon, his blue dragon Saphira, and his cousin Roran travel to the home of the Ra'zac, Helgrind. They rescue Katrina, Roran's fiancee, and kill one of the Ra'zac while they are there. Roran and Katrina then get married, and after the ceremony, Eragon is sent by the leader of the Rebel group the Varden (who are fighting against the evil king Galbatorix and his black dragon, Shruikan), to go to the Beor Mountains, and sit through the election of the new dwarf king. The dwarf Orik is chosen. Eragon and Saphira then go to finish their training in the elven forest with Eragon's current mentor, Oromis, and his golden dragon Glaedr. While there, Eragon discovers that his deceased mentor, Brom, is his father, and also gets a Rider-sword made by Rhunon, the elven blacksmith. He names this sword Brisingr. Roran is sent on multiple missions for the Varden, and even out-wrestles an Urgal. A battle ensues at the city of Feinster, and Eragon and the elf Arya must defeat a new Shade. Also, Oromis and Glaedr fight the evil Murtagh with his red dragon, Thorn.
